Inpsector Spacetime series makes it to the web, sort of...

Dan Harmon's comedic opus Community is one of those rare television shows that restores your faith in the potential of the medium. Like Arrested Development before it, Community is pure intelligent television that is full of satire, social commentary, and is almost always funny without being obvious.

Despite its mainstream appeal (and network), Community has always let its fans know that it has one foot firmly planted in the geek - err... community. The Advanced Dungeons & Dragons episode from the second season is one example of this, and the recurring Dr. Who parody series "Inspector Spacetime" is another.

As a show-within-a-show, Inspector Spacetime was never really explored in full by the writers of Community in the show's first three seasons, but that didn't stop a fan from turning to Kickstarter to fund his own take on the series.

NBC and Sony tried to kill the project by serving its creator with a cease and desist order shortly after the Kickstarter was announced, and as a result "Inspector Spacetime" became "Untitled Web Series About A Space Traveler Who Can Also Travel Through Time".

Despite it's ridiculous title, its first episode finally made it out of production...

It's a bit off without Community's Dani Pudi or Donald Glover, honestly, but Dr. Who fans will appreciate the parody all the same.

Heck, if it drums up enough press on YouTube they might even be able to get Community's genius creator Dan Harmon to write the next couple of episodes for them...
