Lightsabers make Game of Thrones (and everything else) better Part II

Earlier this summer, a video popped up on YouTube which highlighted the awesomeness that occurs when one combines HBO's Game of Thrones with lightsabers. In terms of geek interests, this mash-up was the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup of everything that is right in the world.

The lightsaber effects were added through rudimentary video editing tricks (rotoscoping, to be exact), and the finished product was nothing short of awesome. Many predicted that the release of the famed Boromir Alec Trevelyan Eddard Stark vs Jamie Lannister lightsaber battle would spark a new trend of lightsabers being added to famous TV/film battle scenes.

Outside of a few amusing outliers, this predicted trend never materialized.

YouTuber SRNLNDBRG is looking to change that with the release of a rather polished video that once again turns to Game of Thrones for its inspiration. While this anachronistic lightsaber battle does not feature Sean Bean except in a passing, panning shot, it does feature lightsabers and thus is well worth watching.

Stick with it until the 1:10 mark for some good comedy...

Many fans of George R.R. Martin's novels were upset by the lack of battle scenes in the first two seasons of Game of Thrones (clearly, the show's priorities were elsewhere). Perhaps it's time for the producers embraced the popularity of these lightsaber videos and edit them into the shows before the fans can.
