George R.R. Martin releases a new chapter staring... that slutty chick from Dorne?

George R.R. Martin is a man who likes to take his time when he writes.  He's admitted to having a glacial writing pace outright, and the recent slow down in his publication of the A Song of Ice and Fire books has enraged some fans to the point that they're releasing songs begging him to pick up the pace.

In an effort to reward fans for their patience, Martin took to his official site this week to post a teaser chapter from the upcoming sixth book in the series - The Winds of Winter - and it's bad news for those who hated A Feast for Crows.

Replacing the preview chapter told from Theon "The Douche" Greyjoy's perspective, the new chapter - Arianne - is told from the perspective of Arianne Martell, the eldest daughter of Prince Doran whose catastrophic seduction of Ser Arys Oakheart was a major plot point of the fourth book. The chapter, in all of its purple-text-on-a-purple-background glory can be read on Martin's official website.

There's still no news on a release window for The Winds of Winter yet, and there probably won't be for some time.  Martin claims the book will be close to 1,500 pages when completed, and he currently has 400 pages finished (only 200 or so are truly completed, the rest need revisions), so it looks like fans will be in for another long wait.

On the bright side, a leak from the Season 2 Game of Thrones DVDs hit the web this week, and it shows off Sansa Stark's impressive beatboxing skills as she and the other Stark kids deliver an awkward rap over the show's opening credit sequence:

...actually, that's not a bright side at all.  Write faster, goddammit!
