Take the Oath of the Night's Watch online with Jon Snow

If you've ever longed to work under Ned Stark's brooding bastard Jon Snow (and who hasn't?), then today's your lucky day: HBO has come up with a nifty way for you to take the black and join up with the men of the Night's Watch!

If you head over to, you can join the "Chorus of the Night's Watch" and say your words alongside actor Kit Harrington (Jon Snow).

The way it works is simple: don a headset, grab your best recording mic, and click "Take the Oath."  The words of the Oath then appear on the screen and are highlighted, karaoke-style, as Harrington reads them out in his distractingly gorgeous Irish brogue.

When you've said your words, you can listen to the recording you've made and then approve or re-record the audio. Once approved, the audio is uploaded to the Chorus and you can then watch a video which superimposes your voice track over the thousands of fans who have already taken the black.

It's a nifty little website, admittedly, and one that will appeal to fans of the books and show alike, but the real value of it will be made clear when those gifted at celebrity impersonation log in and blow the whole gravity of the thing to high hell.

I can't speak for other thronies, but I'd pay good money to hear Phineas & Ferb take the oath alongside Gollum, Kermit the Frog, and Christopher Walken.

So what are you waiting for?  Head over to and get recording!  If you live in the northeast, there's really no better way to prepare for the onslaught of Winter Storm Nemo this weekend.
