Object of geek desire? The Modern Fantasy mash-up painting

A great man - possibly Søren Kierkegaard - once said that mash-ups make the geek world go 'round.  Without mash-ups, we wouldn't have such amazing things as lightsabers in Game of Thrones, Hatsune Miku in Skyrim, or pretty much anything from the Nerdcore rap movement.

Yet for all the good that they provide, is there such a thing as too many mash-ups?  After looking at the painting below, loyal readers, the answer is an emphatic "maybe".

Pictured here is "Modern Fantasy", a 36" x 25" acrylic painting currently for sale on Etsy.  Created by NeoVintageArtistry and retailing for the princely sum of $2,500, this one-of-a-kind painting isn't for everyone.

Who is it for, then?  Anyone who's a fan of The Hobbit, Princess Mononoke, Final Fantasy IX, Star Wars and Jim Henson classics like The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth. While the art style of Modern Fantasy might not appeal to every geek in the world, I defy you to find another work of art that features Vivi, Gandalf, Hoggle, and an Ewok on the same canvas.

...or one that has Yoda standing outside of Bag End. This painting has all of that and more. So very much more.

Unsurprisingly, given the price, scale, and the seller's lack of feedback, Modern Fantasy is still available  on Etsy and probably will be for some time.  In many ways, this could be for the best as it's simply too much awesomeness for any one person to own.  This is the sort of geek heirloom that you purchase, divide into four parts, and split amongst your heirs on your deathbed.

...or the one you hang above your gaming table.  Y'know, either way man.  I'm not here to judge.
