The Game of Thrones 'Join the Realm' promo is silly, awesome

One of the most captivating aspects of George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire books is the noble houses and families that populate the lands of Westeros.

Each house has its own distinct heraldry and motto that recalls its storied lineage, and more than a few have some rather liberal policies when it comes to sticking it in one's own sister.

Misgivings about incest aside, it's fair to say that the Houses of Westeros are responsible for convincing many readers to slog through the books - if only to see what befalls their favorite dynasty.

HBO has unleashed a new online promo that lets you - yes, you! - create your own house sigil and words using a nifty free website.

Following on the heels of, which gave you the chance to say the oath of the Night's Watch in sync with actor Kit Harrinton, gives Game of Thrones fans the chance to create their own custom house sigil (heraldry) and accompanying words.

Sure, you could borrow the crests of the established Houses - the Kraken of Greyjoy is present, as is the  Dire Wolf of House Stark, and the resplendent Trout of House Tully - but to really stand out from the smallfolk you'll need to delve into the many of other clip art images HBO has taken the time to upload.

If you'd like to be super pretentious - like your humble author here at Kawaiian Punch - you can head over to any one of several free English -> Latin translation websites to give your house words some gravitas.
