The first track from Random (Mega Ran)'s Castlevania album is here, pretty awesome

If you're into nerdcore hip hop, or video games in general, there's a really good chance that you already know who Random (formerly Mega Ran) is.  If not, the talented young rapper is most well known for his Final Fantasy VII-inspired Black Materia / White Materia remixes, eulogizing Nintendo Power, and - of course - his Mega Man albums.

Recently, Random's started branching out into more old school (and obscure) 8-bit games like Ghouls ' Ghosts and River City Random Ransom while working on projects of a distinctly less Nintendo nature.

This is scheduled to change in a few weeks when Random will drop a new, as-yet untitled Castlevania tribute album on the world.  If the first track from the album, Young Girl, is any indication of what's to come, it will be awesome...

It definitely has a more traditional hip hop feel that a lot of his usual game remixes do, but that's by no means a bad thing.  If you absolutely positively need Young Girl now, you can pick it (and an instrumental version) up for $1.50 over at Random's bandcamp page.  Or, you can wait until June 4th and pick up the whole Castlevania album whips its way to your eardrums.

Incidentally, if you're not familiar with Random/Mega Ran and are looking to familiarize yourself with his collection - this weekend is a great time to do so.  From now until 5/27, all of Mega Ran's albums and EPs are on sale for 50% off!

Black Materia: The Remixes is a clear standout, as is the (free) White Materia mash-ups albums... so if you have $3.77 burning a hole in your pocket, head on over and download 'em both for the weekend.
