Little Witch Academia is getting a blu ray release

Way back in April, the plucky anime studio Trigger dropped a 26-minute-long anime vignette on the internet called Little Witch Academia.

Full of familiar, Harry Potter-like elements, Little Witch Academia told a compelling and accessible story in its criminally short runtime.  Add to that an appealing, Final Fantasy Tactics-esque art style, and it's easy to see why anime fans were excited about the potential of the short.  Would it be turned into a full-fledged series?  Will there be a manga?  Who knows!

While, unfortunately, there's no word on the serialization of Little Witch Academia yet, the short will get a special collector's edition release in the US featuring the full 26 minute short, a 66 minute making-of feature, and a 112-page art book featuring several "cherishable illustrations".

Sadly, there's no price yet for the blu ray release - but considering that Little Witch Academia is going offline from YouTube at the end of June, this seems like a great opportunity to pick up the blu ray and add a cute, innocent anime to your collection.

Assuming, of course, that it doesn't cost as much as an import of a Hatsune Miku concert blu ray...

Anyway!  The company responsible for the localization, Acctil, has a placeholder page set up for the blu ray release so be sure to check back in periodically if this looks like something you'd like to own.
