Object of geek desire: adorable Game of Thrones-inspired nursery mobile

As George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire books continue to dominate modern fantasy literature, an increasing number of children are born into the names Eddard and Daenerys.

These children may face an awkward adolescence if Game of Thrones ever falls out of style - but as infants, they should sleep soundly and dream of claiming the Iron Throne for themselves.

Despite the growing number of officially licensed plushies, however, there's relatively little in the way of Game of Thrones branded baby swag.  At least there wasn't, until the Game of Thrones mobile came along...

This adorable mobile is the work of Aussie crafter Nicola, and comes with four felt chibi interpretations of the Sigils from the most famous (and notorious) houses in Westeros - all dangling under a stylized silver crown.

Although you only get four cute sigils per mobile, you can select from eight different designs representing Houses Stark, Lannister, Baratheon, Targaryen, Greyjoy, Arryn, Tyrell, and Martell.

Unfortunately, such cuteness comes at a price.  The mobile costs $195 (+$13 shipping to the US) which breaks down to roughly $50 per adorable felt sigil... with the crown thrown in for free.  Or hey, maybe you can look at like you're paying $200 for one of the sigils and you get the other three and the mobile for free!

Look, I'm not telling you how to justify your purchase here, I'm just letting you know that if you have a baby or are planning to have a baby this thing pretty much belongs in its nursery.

...unless, of course, you realize how inexpensive felt is and how readily you could make something like this yourself.  Of course, the end result won't be anywhere near as cute as this - and you probably won't use, or can't find, merino felt at your local craft store - so maybe it's worth spending on.
