Knights of Badassdom - the comedy about a bunch of LARPers who accidentally summon a demon and have to lightning bolt for their lives - has been sitting in the can for longer than the development cycles of most movies.
It hit Comic Con wayyyyy back in 2011 and looked pretty awesome, but then it went through a distribution rights fiasco that damn near killed the project. Now, after months of wrangling and pitching, it seems like the star-studded LARP comedy will be making its way to theaters in the US and video on demand services.
Unfortunately, the released version may well the heavily edited one and might not be the finished version that fans were eagerly looking forward to.
...but there's a chance that it'll be the 'real' version approved by original director Joe Lynch, and - regardless - its a LARP comedy starring Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), True Blood's Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten), geek goddess River Tam (Summer Glau) and Community's Abed (Danny Pudi) - so it'll certainly be worth checking out.
Details about the deal from Deadline are pretty sparse and don't mention a release date, but I'll be sure to post again on this awesome-looking film just as soon as one surfaces.
Until then, enjoy the trailer!
