Harry Potter fortune cookies show other fortune cookies how it's done

It's difficult to have any actual feelings toward fortune cookies.

Coming after a gluttonous feast of Chinese takeout, fortune cookies are satisfying enough on their own but they rarely provide any sort of actual, quantifiable enjoyment.  Like a glass of warm, flat Coke when you're parched - fortune cookies get the job done if you absolutely need something sweet at the end of the meal, but you eat them full well knowing that better, more exciting dessert options exist.

Like these amazing Harry Potter-inspired cookies, for example.

Baked up by the amazing Tina over at Sugar Bean Bakers, these cookies might not look like much at first glance, but if you apply what you know about fortune cookies to them and snap them in half...

You'll find a surprise hidden in the delicious sugar cookie center.  And not just any surprise, mind you, it's a personalized invitation letter to Hogwarts that's authentic looking enough to set your inner 11-year-old's heart aflutter.

Once you realize how simple these are to make (full recipe here), you'll never send a regular letter again.

Of course, you don't need to go the Hogwarts route with these fondant-covered confections, and you can fill each cookie envelopes with whatever sort of missive you'd like.  Got a deadbeat roommate that doesn't pay the cable bill on time? Serve it to them in a cookie.  Want to make sure the IRS grants your tax extension this year?  Cookie.

And if you're planning to have a Harry Potter-themed party any time soon, you can't go wrong with a personalized invitation cookie for each of your guests.

Just make sure you serve them before you start playing Quidditch Beer Pong...
