Wind Waker HD promises selfies... selfies for miles

With the release of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD just a few days away, fans of Link, Zelda, & Co. are starting to get excited - and with good reason.

Wind Waker is widely regarded as one of the best installments in the Zelda franchise, and giving it a nice, glossy 1080p makeover is certainly going to help stand up to the test of time a bit better.

Yet for one fan, it's not the visuals alone that's making Wind Waker HD worth the while. Instead, it's the ability for Link to shamelessly snap selfies that really makes this trip to Hyrule worth the effort.

Ok, so the game doesn't actually let Link take selfies... but it does allow you, the player, to take screenshots using the Picto Box item which is pretty much the same thing.

Twitter user Linkstagram certainly thinks so, anyway, as he's compiled an incredible collection of frighteningly au courant selfies of Hyrule's favorite hero.  While the screenshots alone are amusing enough, it's the perfectly tuned updates that accompany them which really makes 'em shine.

I'm not sure I like the idea of Link on Twitter, but the social media smack talk is a brilliant addition to the Link v. Ganon rivalry that we've all seen play out countless (ok, eight) times before.

Right now, Wind Waker HD is only in the hands of those who were able to justify the purchase of a $300 Limited Edition Wii U bundle (and, of course, video game journalists) - but one thing's for sure: the Link selfie meme is going to positively *explode* once Wind Waker HD hits retail shelves on October 4.

...and the worlds of Twitter, Facebook, and Hyrule will be better for it.
